Haiku Living Legacy Project (HLLP) , Ha’iku’s very own historical society, will have a “pop up” Ha’iku History museum in the Ha’iku School library during the April 14th Ha’iku Ho’olaule’a. The display features hundreds of vintage photos, maps and displays of Ha’iku from the 1870’s to the 1970’s. This year’s HLLP display will include recordings of Ha’iku kupuna sharing their memories of Haiku’s past. There will also be a new display, researched and assembled by the Maui Nisei Veterans Memorial Center revealing the long-lost story of Haiku’s WWII internment camp. Entries from the Ha’iku School Student’s History Contest will also be on display.
